Internet, or computers is a new necessity Essay Example for Free

internt, or ready reck unitaryrs is a new necessity EssayThis paper asserts that the Internet is not a prodigality anymore in constantlyyday life, hence it is has become a new necessity and that the Internet today benefits many aspects of life materially, stintingally and socially. This paper im surgical incisioning prove these assertions with evidence and counter notes by overcoming by at least unitary argument that whitethorn forwarded against. Starting with physical yard, it is argued by some that Internet is should nevertheless be intentiond by those in the office and those who con rear the luxury of time and money. Computers which are means to entrance money the Internet are impoverishmented only if one has money is the justification of some. This may have been the result a survey conducted for the Ameri dopes (Pew Research Center, 2006) where the respondents were all rich and therefore they can afford to have computers that would eventual(prenominal)ly lead t hem to have a continuous access in the Internet. If one ask a group of mess who have no money, leave they then answer the same thing or will they answer that they as well make the network only that they cannot afford? This paper believes the second argument that the lack of money in the meantime is equivalent to absence of need. This is argument may be the result the of movement to give one laptop for apiece child by a non government organization despite the utter lack of money of every child to have the access to the internet. The hidden reason is the indispens major power of having to be linked to the world to benefit from the knowledge economy. The lack of money should not be therefore a reason recognize that the need is not there. To further support this counter argument is the whimsey that a hungry man who cannot afford to eat does not mean that he or she does not need the food the food anymore. What the hungry do is to find the means in order to have that food. For econo mic reason, it is argued by some that access to the Internet via computers should only be accessed by those who have financial transactions via the network. The internet is supposed to facilitate business communications among those who are into it like the banks. The give tongue to argument misses the point of having to have access in the Internet. Who else will not need the banking industry this time? If one belongs to a third world expanse and waits for a cash remittance from a first world country, does he or she not know that the money will have to pass by the Internet that links the banks around the world. In case the remitter and the expected recipient will encounter a problem with the remittance, will they not require the use of the Internet to facilitate the communication? If this happened before, they can talk via phone precisely this time a cheaper mode is available. They can chat in the Internet and they can solve their problem from there. That point of this counter ar gument is that business entities use the Internet, the public will have to follow using the same because that is demanded by the need of the times. It may be explained that the banking industry are interlinked around the world, hence to say that they are not interlinked is shortsightedness. Investors from richer countries of the world are pouring their investments in poorer countries too with the foresight of the developing the market. What will this rich investors do is to employ people from these poor countries and the moment these workers have financial capacity, they will immediately become members of the financial community that lives on computers and the Internet. With communications to have become cheaper, the Internet has employed many which afforded people to better educate them selves. Because of the Internet, people can now learning on field and can transact online. Shall not the better education and better communication caused by the Internet then? For social reason, Her tlein and Sendak (n. d. ) as well as argued that increasingly a part of everyday life, the Internet allows users to develop online inter psycheal relationships and this resulted to breach of relationships and trust and commitment of previously existing assumed romantic relationships. They thus argued for Internet infidelity resulting from these breaches. They also noted that fact that as the Internet has the ability to affect the structure, timing, and rhythm of relationships, it also inherently affects the manner in which a couple defines amour in a way that couples who once felt that they were close and connected may now struggle with a new set of rules and codes of conduct that are perplexing and upon which they may not agree under the present level of engineering using the Internet.Seeing the effect of such change on interpersonal relationships, they aphorism the effect of a compromised intimacy and a devaluing of the primary relationship, potentially cascading into other sig nificant problems. (Hertlein and Sendak, n. d. ). It may be counter-argued however that what may have been termed as internet infidelity may infer that as an increased freedom to communicate and express oneself-importance because freedom allows so. It cannot be argued that the Internet cause infidelity because it is the human person who made the choice to communicate for more freely to other people. To justify their points, Hertlein, and Sendak said that the paradoxical nature of online relationships has been noted by many where they illustrated cases of people employed in online relationships that can choose to present a costless attachment. They explained that Internet allows for immediacy of communication and interaction darn maintaining anonymity thus allowing transmittal of confessional self-disclosure. This, the authors found causes elements of a disembodied corporeality, easily abandoned high investment and strictly private proclamations of the union. (Hertlein and Sendak, n.d. )Again this appears to be short sighted interpretation of the use of the Interne since it is still the human person who will make a choice and not the Internet. It may be argued that people make choices not the Internet. As further evidence against the use of the Internet, Hertlein, and Sendak found flirting in use of the Internet, masturbations committed online (Hertlein and Sendak , n. d). They cited Maheu and Subotnik who found flirtation leads to erotic satisfaction as there is a intellectual ability to disassociate the online end up with anything having to do with a persons real life. (M Mahu R Subotnik, 9) They also cited research estimates that about 20% of Internet users while online to have engaged in some sexual activity (Cooper, Scherer, Mathy, 2001). On a balancing note, as counterargument against the use of the Internet, Hertlein, and Sendak (n. d. ) cited that benefits from the use of the Internet such as the shift to better intellectual and emotional relation ships of individuals due to individuals greater appreciation for online relationships. They cited a study, where participants reported greater levels of satisfaction with their online relationships than with their face-to-face relationships (Underwood, H B Findlay, 127-140). They also noted greater freedom to express feelings that could not be done in non-virtual relationships specially the for men. Before one knows it one is confession all sorts of things in the Internet and it is good for people psychologically.Good relationships may be produced in the net because of more freedom to express oneself or the result of an incontrovertible trade of the self. In ace-to-face communication, one who engages in a relationship must in many aspects expose ones identity to be potentially judged and the self cannot escape the agony of embarrassment. But in the Internet one can do many things like disguising in many names but with the eventual benefit of self discovery and more psychologically matured to face the world. Thus, Hertlein, and Sendak found that Internet users shape personal demographic information to be in better compliance with what they assume to be others version of the ideal mate that in so doing, a person may better come to empathize how ones own being can change. With the anonymity therefore afforded on the Internet that enhances ones ability to promote any chosen identity, experimentation with different identities has become familiar commonly understood and practices by many in the Internet. What is the effect of all this is the social construction of self as highlighted and elevated?(Hertlein and Sendak, n. d). This paper has proven that the use of the computer or the Internet has become a necessity physically, economically and socially. The arguments forwarded against were overcome by contrary evidence. The physical reason that only in the office have need of the internet has almost made everybody not able almost able to live without the computer or the Internet because it is those who have the resources who make the world running by forcing almost every to see the benefits of the technology. One cannot refuse money passing by means of the high technology banking using the Internet. One will have to be eventually become part of the banking system of the international communication promoted by the Internet. The economic reasons are obvious. Who does not want cheaper cost of communication and faster way of service? Who would not want to see what is happening in the world when one will have the money to buy even a gadget to have access in the Internet? What would have caused the non-governmental organization to dream for one laptop for each child despite the financial incapacity to acquire one?Should we not rather conclude that there is a strong belief that they the acquisition of knowledge of more knowledge the faster way that will cause intellectual and economic prosperity of these children? There is also enough land to overco me the argument that that increasingly a part of everyday life, the Internet has allowed the online interpersonal relationships that resulted to breach of relationships and trust and commitment of previously which were romantic relationships before. That the Internet has the ability to affect the structure, timing, and rhythm of relationships, to have affected the couple definition of intimacy in a way that couples who once felt that they were close and connected may now struggle with a new set of rules and codes of conduct that are ambiguous are just sighs of enlightened path for more freedom to intimacy in other forms. It was explained that what may have been termed as internet infidelity is actually a failure to appreciate and adjust to changing reality that people have become more socially adjustable indeed because of the technology. It was thus observed that people engaged in online relationships that can have a detached attachment, immediacy of communication and interaction whil e maintaining anonymity which transmittal of confessional self-disclosure. The finding by authors of more socially adjusted beings mere pointed to the need to have the technology these days where people could now have parties and occasions even if these people are apart from each other. The argument against by using on line or Internet infidelity is a shortsighted interpretation of the use of the technology as it is basic to understand that it is still the human person who will make a choice and not the Internet. The finding also that online activities resulted to flirtation leading to erotic satisfaction given the mental ability to disassociate the online sex with anything having to do with a persons real life is just a revelation that man has been doing the same thing in secret with or without the Internet. The Internet was invented to serve mankind and since necessity is the mother of all inventions, one could not but accept the fact the invention has become a necessity. The ever i ncreasing growth of the industry are living proofs Internet is to remain in the lives of many people because not only that the advantages of far outweighs the disadvantages of having the same but the technology come into being because of the need to survive. Economically speaking technology increased production and productivity although population continuously grows.Works CitedCooper, Scherer, Mathy, Overcoming over a 5-year Period, Journal of Personality Social Psychology 84(2) 35264, 2001 D Greenfield, Virtual Addiction. Assessment of Mangroves Species Vulnerable to Human Threats

Assessment of Mangroves Species Vulnerable to Human ThreatsRESEARCH PROPOSALTITLE ASSESSMENT OF MANGROVES SPECIES open TO HUMAN THREATS AT MBEGANI AND MLIGOTIN VILLAGE.JOSEPH JACOB1.0 INTRODUCTION1.1 BACKGROUND INFORMATION Mangroves ar woody plants that grow at the interface between land and sea. occur worldwide in the tropics and subtropics, mainly between latitudes 25 N and 25 S. they are salt tolerant trees, also called halophytes, and are adapted to life in bumpy coastal conditions. They contain a complex salt filtration system and complex root system to cope with salt wet immersion and wave action. They are adapted to the low oxygen conditions of waterlogged mud. The word mangrove is usually considered a compound of the Portuguese word mangue and the English word grove. The term mangrove often refers to both the plants and the forest fellowship. To avoid confusion, Macnae (1968) proposed that mangal should refer to the forest community while mangroves should refer to the ind ividual plant species. Mangrove forests are sometimes called tidal forests, coastal woodlands, or oceanic rain forests. Mangrove swamps are found in tropical and subtropical tidal field of battles. Areas where mangal occurs include estuaries and marine shorelines. High flow brings in salt water, and when the tide leave, solar evaporation of the seawater in the soil leads to further increases in salinity. The return of tide can flush bulge these soils, bringing them back to salinity levels comparable to that of seawater. At low tide, organisms are also exposed to increases in temperature and desiccation, and are then cooled and flooded by the tide. Thus, for a plant to survive in this environment, it must tolerate broad ranges of salinity, temperature, and moisture, as well as a number of other key environmental factors thusly only a select few species make up the mangrove tree community. About 110 species are considered mangroves, in the sense of being a tree that grows in such a saline swamp.Mangrove ecosystems are estimated to c all over 150 000 km2 world-wide (Diop 1992, 1993). Mangroves can be found in over 118 countries and territories in the tropical and subtropical regions of the world the largest percentage of mangroves is found between the 5 N and 5 S latitudes. Approximately 75% of worlds mangroves are found in just 15 countries. Asia has the largest amount (42%) of the worlds mangroves, followed by Africa (21%), North/Central America (15%), Oceania (12%) and South America (11%).Africa has virtually 35 000 km2 of mangrove ecosystem (Diop 1992, 1993), Nigeria has largest mangrove area about 1mln ha. East Africa lie in of mangroves swamps along the Indian Ocean coast of East Africa in southern Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya and southern Somalia.Delta of Zambezi in Mozambique and Rufiji River in Tanzania are large area of mangroves which can extend as far as 50 km inland, as well as smaller areas along the coast. The mangroves of Bagamoyo District form a more-or-less continuous band along the 100-km coastline from Saadani t unmatchablear Kitame salt works, and then from Ruvu Riverto Mpiji River. They cover an area of 5635 ha (Semesi, 1991).The main mangrove stands are found along Wami River, 862 ha, Utondwe creek, 834 ha, Ruvu River, 2123 ha, and south of Bagamoyo to Mpiji River, 809ha. By 1989, clear-cut areas and salt panscovered 1639 ha (Semesi, 1991) and water in the creeks covered 812ha.1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEMIncrease in community leads to distraction of mangroves swamps which in turn has capacious impact to marine environment since mangroves help in break oceanic waves also provide nursery area and habitat to some marine organism. taste which species of mangroves are vulnerable to human threats and why is more important and helpful in establishment of conservation plant of particular species.1.3 GENERAL OBJECTIVESIncrease knowingness among the people about important of mangroves species and how various human activiti es can distract mangroves ecosystem.1.4 SPECIFIC OBJECTIVESTo identify the most threatened mangroves species found in mbegani and mlingotini villageTo appraise various human activities that threats mangroves species1.5 HYPOTHESIS1.5.1 Null hypothesis. There is no mangroves species vulnerable to human threats at mbegani and mlingotini village.1.5.2 Alternative hypothesis. There are mangroves species vulnerable to human threats at mbegani and mlingotini village.1.6 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDYFindings in this study would enhance knowingness among the local community about mangroves species and their important to the local community. Also the findings of this study would create awareness among people about various activities performed by local community which threats mangroves species. This study bequeath encourage natural resource management by local community and enhance formulation of village policy about environment conservation.2 LITERATURE REVIEWAccording to Spalding 1997 mangroves forest disappear everyday all over the world. It was approximated 18.1 one million million million km2 of mangroves forest cover worldwide but according to FAO recent study show that mangroves forest is decline to 15 million km2. Developing countries consist 90% of mangroves forest growing worldwide and most of them critically endangered and nearly extinction in 26 countries. According to duke 2007 the experts of world mangroves provide their charm that the survival of mangroves in long term is at great risk due to fragmentation of habitat and that the survive offered by the mangroves may likely to be totally lost within 100 old age. Many mangroves areas are under pressure of human especially those grow along humid sheltered tropical coastline. A side from man-made pressure the mangroves also degraded due environmental stress. Estimate show that global disadvantage annually is one million ha and some region in dangers of complete collapse (kathiresan and Bingham 2001). Most peop le cause destruction of mangroves either by knowingly or not knowingly the value of mangroves. Livehood, biodiversity loss and fishery resource are reduced to mangroves loss, also decline in population of marine mammals like manatees and dugongs contributed much by loss of mangroves (k. kathiresan 2001). Rates at which mangroves loss is much higher compared to that of tropical forest and coral reef. 7million hectares of mangroves loss worldwide which is equivalent to two years loss of all forest system globally (k. kathiresan and Bingham 2001).Study show that man-made activities contribute much to the destruction of mangroves species which pose significant threats examples of those activities areUrbanization home of human to many areas cause coast mangroves to be cleared. Areas which experience this are Singapore, Jakarta, Bangkok, Mumbai, Lagos, and free town.Agriculture mangroves destroyed because of agriculture activities example regions of largest delta in the world between Ind ia and Bangladesh. According to kathiresan 2001 the mangrove areas are deforested and reclaimed with rainwater to drain the salt content of the soil and these areas are protected from seawater intrusion by constructing embankments. erstwhile the salt is leached to sufficient level, the land is cultivated either with paddy or coconut.Aquaculture practices in several countries aquaculture contribute in large scale destruction of mangroves. In 1968 and 1983, 237000 ha of mangroves were loss for kitty construction in Philippines which is half of national mangroves (Fernandez1978). According to kathiresan One major issue associated with the farms located in mangrove habitats is acidification of pond waters that kills aquatic organisms.Cutting for timber, fuel and charcoal due to its higher calorific value twing of mangroves are used for firewood. Rich in phenol enable mangroves wood to highly resist deterioration as is widely used as timber and their suitable for chipboard and quality paper industry.Oil pollution Oil or gas exploration, petroleum production, and accidents by large oil tankers cause significant damage to mangrove ecosystems. To cite an example, Nigerias richest oil surface are situated close to inshore where rich mangroves once existed. Similarly oil tanker accidents in the Gulf of Mexico and in the Caribbean areas resulted in oil press release that severely damages the coastal systems. As a result, the entire mangrove ecosystem got affected, causing defoliation of trees, mortality of all sessile and benthic organisms and contamination of many water fowls. Once the mangrove forest is affected by oil pollution, it will take a long time of at least 10 years for recovery of the forest.3 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY3.1 STUDY AREAThis work will be conducted in pwani region in Bagamoyo district at mbegani and mlingotini villages.Bagamoyo is one of the 6 districts of the Pwani Region. Case Study Ethics Guide Dialing For Dollars Marketing Essay

Case excogitate Ethics Guide Dialing For Dollars Marketing EssayIn Dialing for Dollars, a political party is faced with low sales. Desperate to meet quota, a boss authorizes a sales soul to offer customers a 20% discount if they take delivery origin completelyy the closedown of the quarter, and to start dialing for dollars. Get what you can. Be creative. This prompts the salesperson to try out(p) a few creative but questionable ways of trying to cost emergence sales. The sales person moves from customer to customer trying different tactics to convince the customers to buy some harvests. This article raises the question of how far one is unbidden to go to succeed. In this report, we aim to discuss the creative sales tactics the salesperson employed, to evaluate if they were ethical or not, and in instances, to evaluate whether they were legal or not. We testament also discuss the merits and demerits of each tactic, and whether they were in the scope of what the comp either would find acceptable. The four questions asked areIs it ethical for you to write the netmail agreeing to take the result rear end? If the email comes to light later, what do you think your boss will say?Is it ethical for you to offer the advertising discount? What effect does that discount give way on your familiaritys balance sheet? Is it ethical for you to ship to the fictitious family? Is it legal? define the impact of your activities on next quarters inventories.Case Study QuestionsQ1. Is it ethical for you to write the email agreeing to take the product back? If the email comes to light later, what do you think your boss will say? accord to the American Marketing Associations Statement of Ethics, marketers should be forthright in dealings with customers and stakeholders. To this end, marketers should strive to be truthful in wholly situations and at all times.1In business, stakeholders refers to any person(s) and/or entity/ies that has/have vested interest in the finale s businesses make. In general, these people are usually employees, customers, occupationholders, consumers, and even society at large if a companys business decisions were to rival them.In the case of Dialing for Dollars, a salesperson finds himself in quandary when the sales forecasting system predicts every quarter sales to be substantially under quota, suggestion the salespersons boss to suggest that the salesperson start dialing for dollars. Get what you can. Be creative. This results in the salesperson offering a management-authorized 20% discount on orders that are delivered in advance the end of the quarter to its customers. Unknown to management, the salesperson also offered to take back any unsold stock the following quarter. He confirms this offer by email to the customer instead of on the purchase order, as accounting would not log the order this quarter under those conditions. The question is Who is affected by this decision? And what would be the outcome to those aff ected? In the case of the salesperson, his total sales would be upped, including his commissions, resulting in a net gain to him. In the case of the customer, he chafes his 20% discount on the clean merchandise, along with a guarantee than unsold inventory could be returned the following quarter. For the customer, this is also a winning situation. In the case of the company, the companys bottom line shows hearty sales and income flows for the quarter as a result of this decision. In the short time, it is a good business decision. but businesses do not exist to operate for a short term. They exist with the hope that they will continue operations indefinitely. So a decision more than(prenominal) as this that may appear to be a net positive in the short-term, could have disastrous consequences in the long term. This brings me to the other stakeholders, the stockholders. Stockholders purchase stock in a company based on the faith they have that the company will go on to thrive. A b usiness decision that seeks to be deceitful and cut corners in one quarter, which will negatively affect business the following quarter, is a bad one from the point of view of stockholders. A companys public reputation is dependent on the internal ethics of the company and its employees. Any hit to its public image could perceivably cause stock prices to plummet drastically, as was the case with Martha Stewart stock during her insider-trading scandal. To answer the question, it was not ethical to write the email to take the product back without the expressed consent of management, and if the email comes to light, the boss would in all probability be disappointed at the action. To quote the American Marketing Associations mantra referred to above marketers should strive to be truthful in all situations and at all times. all the way this was not the case.Q2. Is it ethical for you to offer the advertising discount? What effect does that discount have on your companys balance sheet?Be cause the companys sales forecasting system has predicted that quarterly sales will be substantially under quota, the vice president of sales has authorized a 20-percent discount on new orders, with the only agreement being that customers must take delivery prior to the end of the quarter so that accounting can book the order. Start dialing for dollars, she says, and get what you can. Be creative. With that said, common chord creative strategies were implemented. The second strategy that the salesperson tried was that instead of offering the discount, the salesperson offers the product at full price, but agrees to pay a 20-percent commendation in the next quarter, that way the full price is booked for this quarter. The salespersons rear claims that the companys marketing department analyzed past sales with a fancy new computer system and determined that increasing advertising will cause additional sales, so if they order more product now, next quarter the company will give 20-per cent of the order back to pay for advertising. The obvious is that the customer is going to receive the credit next quarter and not buy product in that quarter, killing your sales for that quarter, but thatll be a problem for next quarter.According to the Journal of Indian Management, Advertising is the life blood of all business organizations, without which the products or services cannot flow to the distributors or sellers, and on to the consumers or users. Unethical issues in advertisement include providing misleading information, using ambiguous monetary value and defaulting and promised rewards.2After analyzing the given circumstances that the companys salesperson maked, many of these wrong issues were brought up. The salesperson first gave misleading information, by claiming that the marketing department analyzed past sales using a fancy new computer system that determined increasing advertising will cause additional sales. Secondly, the salesperson promised a reward, by st ating that by buying more product in this quarter, the company in return will reward 20-percent of their order back for advertising. Lastly, the whole sales pitch used ambiguous terms. For example, the salesperson used terms much(prenominal) as, our fancy new computer system, but mainly well give you 20-percent of the order back to pay for advertising. What and how exactly will the company determine whether or not the 20-percent given back to the customer will be used for advertising, as that is a part of the agreement in the salespersons pitch? With all said and done, the salespersons advertising discount offer strategy for increasing the companys quarterly sales is highly unethical and raises several red flags. If the advertising discount offer is accepted by both sides, then the balance sheet for the current quarterly sales will show a boom in sales, however in the following quarter, the advertising discount will show up as a have on in the balance sheet, because that is when th e 20-percent of the customers order will be credited back to the customer for advertising purposes.Q3. Is it ethical for you to ship to the fictitious company? Is it legal?According to Business Law and the Legal Environment by Beatty and Samuelson, Ethics is the study of how people ought to act.3We believe the Dialing for Dollars salesperson acted very unethically for the reasons stated below. Many organizations create a Code of Ethics which states the organizations primary values, and sets the rules employees should abide by. No legitimate business will have a Code of Ethics that makes behavior such as this salespersons actions acceptable.Due to expected low quota, the vice president allowed employees to offer a 20% discount on new orders. The words start dialing for dollars and get what you can. Be creative are not instructions to behave unethically. They mean that the salesperson should use creativity in trying to sell as much merchandise as possible, but in an ethical and legal f ashion. This particular salesperson, out of desperation, sold $40,000 dollars worth of merchandise to a fictitious company have by his brother-in-law. It is not ethical to ship to a fictitious company. The quota is met but the product is returned in the next quarter. A big lying scheme was create with the brother-in-law. This deception causes the company to produce more merchandise based on deceptive sales amounts, which will result in the company being harmed in the long run.According to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, their mission is to reduce the incidence of fraud and white-collar crime. They performed a research using Benfords law to feel fraud,4which looked at investigative and audit sampling methods. They described something similar to what was done by the salesperson to be an embezzlement scheme. It is also illegal because the sales person created a fictitious company using his brother-in-law as the front person and allowed the company to perform a credit ch eck. Moreover, this salesperson is also causing his company to record fictitious revenue which is also fraud. This is a serious problem as the company is not aware of the scheme it is being unwittingly compound in.The CPA Journal provides ways for company auditors to catch this type of fraud. They provide the following advice Be skeptical about large revenue transactions save near the fiscal year-end and In reviewing purchase orders, auditors should look for cancellation clauses that could negate the sale. Auditors should read sales contracts and look for cancellation privileges and lapse dates. Revenue should not be put down until the cancellation privilege lapses.5In summary, shipping products to a fictitious company is both unethical and illegal. It causes many problems for the company in the long run. Ultimately, the company is responsible as it should take the proper steps in reviewing sales to ensure no such scheme is happening. Since the salesperson represents the company, if caught, they will both be charged with fraud.Q4. Describe the impact of your activities on next quartersinventories. The impact of the three sales actions above would have terrible effects on the inventories. All of the returned material would capture overstock. Since the automatise system noticed the trend of increase in sales of the product it would wrongly forecast higher demand of the product. This would result in compounding the overstock problem by eventually increasing the amount of finished goods of the product in stock even more. On top of receiving back the returned product, the automated process to increase production would cause change magnitude orders for raw materials for the manufacture of the product. With the finished product overstock from the returns as well as ill-advised over-production and increased raw materials, space for storing all of the inventories within the warehouse may also become a problem. Further, with the increased orders for the raw materi als and possible negative net income from all of the returns, the company could be placed in jeopardy with its cash flow. Depending upon how bad the situation gets, the company may be put in a thought to have the sales team sell the product at a loss in order to get inventory levels back to normal and not take any further, worse losses. In terms of accounting for inventories, one can also look at the calculation for Cost of Goods Sold as referenced from Cornerstones of Managerial AccountingCost of Goods make+ Finished goods inventory (beg. of period) Finished goods inventory (end of period)Cost of Goods SoldThe Finished Goods inventory at the end of the next quarter (regardless of when the items are returned) would be increased dramatically by the returned product. This in turn would inevitably have a negative effect on the Cost of Goods Sold at the end of the next quarter.Materials inventory as used in calculations for Cost of Goods Manufactured would also be affected because of t he increase in raw materials purchased. The formula for Cost of Goods Manufactured as shown in Cornerstones of Managerial Accounting isDirect Materials+ Direct Labor+ Overhead+ WIP (beg. of period) WIP (end of period)Cost of Goods ManufacturedSince the Direct Materials would be increased because of the increase in purchases, then the Cost of Goods Manufactured would be increased, which in turn would increase the Cost of Goods Sold again. synopsisWhy is ethics in business important? Society views unethical behavior by business leadership as being socially irresponsible. poisonous ethical behavior can result in crushing blows to a companys public image, resulting in a greatly decreased bottom line. Ethics is so critical that management has to pay close attention to it in order to survive. Customers reaction to unethical management behavior can force an organization out of business. Additionally, deceptive behavior and short cuts usually result in lawsuits and injuries, adding to a co mpanys woes. In the end, its always best to do the right thing from the outset.

The first sub-group is young professionals and the second one is the current target demographics of the growing multinational population and people who tend to buy food from vending machinesTrade Joes also plans to have a standby target market of those born between the early 1980s to early 2000s. They willing to go for incomparable or store brand instead of big brand names as long as it promote healthy products, ingredients, and ethical, green production process. Moreover, due to the high living cost, the customer also watches their budget for grocery.COMPETITIVE FACTOR The primary competitor of Trader Joes is Whole Food market.Marketing PlanTrader Joes is successful in United States by their high quality product and good service. However, Trader Joes needs specifically targeted marketing goals and strategies in order to succeed in target customer.merchandising OBJECTIVE Through the marketing plan, Trader Joes will reach their target customer through social media. Moreover, this plan will help the company put up their awareness in new adult, from 18 to 33 years old market by 30 percent ov er six months period through social media and advertising.MARKETING RESEARCH Trader Joes does not use any kind of advertising form. The company follows their low profile in core doctrine they eschew advertising agencies and television completely. Trader Joes use their employee and customer serves as an ambassador of the brand, or using the Word by Mouth strategy. Therefore, the company leans on the current customer database and however, they are attracting the new customer in a passive way, especially the young adult who uses social media regularly.PRICING For competitively with other competitors, Trader Joes should have a good pricing strategy. This strategy would keep their product at a competitive price but still have a quality of the product. For some product like grocery, base on the local farm, we can use the discount, or the sale to make the price pull down than competitors.SALE PROMOTION For attracting more customers, Trader Joes would have weekly sale promotion in store, a nd post in the Facebook or Twitter or do The Fearless Flyer. The unique of the Fearless Flyer is in that flyer, Trader Joes not only consists the advertising of their in store promotion at that moment, but also include the recipe, the tips for cooking. They donate their food in the local food bank every week, and of course, they receive the stage and certificate for that good will. However, if Trader Joes step in this charity, it would be late, and it doesnt help to increase the fame. So I would recommend another plan, like support the by and by school program, the senior living or sponsor for some organization like breast cancer, marathon 2K Our target market is a youth adult, who cares about their environment and social. So if we keep doing this strategy, I believe that we will catch their attention and bring more customers to our store because they will realize that their spending coin would help them back by our program support for their children, their parent or their grandparents.INTERNET/SOCIAL MEDIA Our target is the youth adult, who was born in the technology decade, and the better way to catch their attention is using their own way. An Analysis of Prostitutes on Strike: The Women of Hotel Street During World War II :: essays research papers fc

When most people hear the word prostitute, they immediately envision a person who is a disease-ridden imbecile of society. However, if one researches the statistics and personal recollections of prostitutes, they will find that they may be very moral and great women. The reflection that Beth Bailey and David Farber recall in the essay called Prostitutes on Strike The Women of Hotel Street During WW II shows what the prostitutes were actually like in the 1940s. In several cases of the women in Hawaii during World War II, their shame is shown through their cooperation with organizations and with the public. Many of the things that they did, however, were not entirely as moral as they seem to appear to be. The events associated with the prostitutes that stayed in Hawaii during WWII can be thought of as both ethical and unethical, but nonetheless, they fought a war of their own to keep their occupations and ways of life.Prostitutes in Hawaii thrived with business during the times surro unding the War to finish up All Wars. Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness and Carl Jungs Principle of Opposite

Carl Jung was a pioneer of psychoanalytic theory along with his former partner and mentor, Sigmund Freud. Though Jung split from Freud and diverged onto his give birth unbeaten trail of psychoanalysis two years before his decease, they argon both highly revered for the myriad of ways in which they developed the sense of the mind. Parallel to this period, Joseph Conrad penned and published the novella Heart of Darkness, which tackled much of what Jung had found about the psyche and its inner workings. In Heart of Darkness, both Marlow and Kurtz are representations of strong reoccurring archetypes inside human myth, religion, and folklore. They work together to epitomize one of Jungs Cores of Personality the Principle of Opposites. The Principle of Opposites states that both sides of opposite pairsgood and bad, light and dark, joy and despair, et ceteraare present to complete the other. In this way, Marlow and Kurtz are opposite replications of each other in Conrads Heart of Darkness they are doppelgngers that complete each other, as in Jungian theory.Marlow is the raconteur of Heart of Darkness, and therefore is one of the more crucial characters within the plot. He embodies the willingness to be valiant, resilient, and gallant, while similarly seeming to be cautiously revolutionary. He is, seemingly the epitome of bravery, going into the jungle. Marlows voyage is, in essence, a night journey into the unconscious, the confrontation with an entity within the self (Guerard 38). The lowering coast is an allegory for the idea of the unconscious mind. Watching a coast as it slips by the ship there it is before yousmiling, frowning, inviting, grand, mean, insipid, or savage, and always wordless with an air of whispering (1... ...Works CitedBurke, Colleen.
